Bravo & Patti Stanger Apologize for Anti-Gay Slurs

Bravo & Patti Stanger Apologize for Anti-Gay Slurs

The Patti Stanger apology tour has begun. In the wake of discriminatory, anti-gay comments she made during Sunday's season 5 premiere of Bravo's Watch What Happens: Live, Stanger has been trying to say she's sorry for what she said.

On the late-night show, hosted by Andy Cohen, Stanger made a series of discriminatory comments in reference to gay men being challenged by monogamy, including "There's no curbing the gay...I've tried to curb you people."

After a great deal of outcry by viewers and outreach by the media-watch group Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Stanger hit the Twitterverse yesterday, saying, "So sorry -- didn't mean to offend anyone. Love you all. X0." She also specified that what she said was directed to somebody who called into the show: "Attn male Gays: I support you & my comment on WWHL was to a LA guy who can't find commitment."

The network has since followed up with its own apology: "Bravo regrets the comments expressed by Patti Stanger on Watch What Happens: Live last night," a network spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. "Her comments are not representative of the network's beliefs and opinions. We apologize for the offense it caused."

Stanger was on a serious roll when she was on the WWH:L, she also insinuated that it was a compliment to be straight. Oh, and that "Jewish men lie." As in, all of them. Wow. Patti, who is Jewish, has yet to address that comment.

We'll see if she has anything else to say for herself tonight, when Stanger is slated to appear on HLN's The Joy Behar Show at 10 p.m. ET. Will she be as remorseful while in the hot seat? We'll be watching!
